Esperanza lives in a neighborhood steeped in poverty: Mice inhabit the homes and children run around barefoot and unsupervised in yards covered mostly in dirt instead of grass and trees. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, she might be hard pressed to find much for which to be thankful.
Your job today is to help Esperanza view Mango Street with appreciative eyes. What does her neighborhood and life offer her for which she might be thankful? Esperanza is focusing on the negative things surrounding her and she needs to focus more on the positive. Look at the things she has, the good people and things in her life. Then she'll have things to be thankful for.
Esperanza should appreciate the fact that she has a roof over her head and a place to sleep because most people don't have a house or can't afford one. she should be happy her family put a effort in getting a house because some parents don't care about their kids and nowa days they kill thier kids
so esperpanza has no excuse to be sad about her house.

esperanza should appreciate the fact that she still has her parents and siblings. some people cant even be around or with their families so she should rejoice the time with her family.

You might want to appriate the family that you have with you and be happy to have a roof over your head. Even thought you live in a bad and trashy part of town. But at least you have those things to look forword to.

jordan i totally agree with you because she needs to appreciate every thing, and everyone she has with her.
Esperanza should be thankful that she at least has food and running water also it may not be much but she does have a house, she may think her life is bad and the way she lives but in reality there is a lot more people out there that have even less than what she does.

Esperanzas neighborhood offers her trust and love. She can fit in the neighborhood and her neighbors can protect her. She can thank her neighbors for the home, food, and friends. She has all kinds of things she can thank her neighbors for but does not notices because she only seas the bad things in her life.
